IS IT JUST ME?

I've had a quiet weekend , managed to lots of chores done thats the beauty of becomming a non smoker time on your hands lol, also I brought work home which is almost completed. I did,nt cook yesterday I cheated and had chinese but have done a curry today when your on your own no point in doing a roast and the pubs around here get so crowded unless you go at noon so theres no point really.

Went into town today which was like a ghost town but managed to get some books dvds and some new tops for work, it was very overcast and a bit blowy but at least it was'nt raining nothing worse than being cold and wet.

A couple of things today bothered me, the rudness of people twice in different shops people just pushed into me even though I was clearly there first, Is It Just Me or have good manners gone out of the window, I am at times astounded by people and there rudeness and inconsiderate behaviour and there foul language, I mean I'm no angel but for gods sake if I had behaved like that when I was a kid I'd have been given a clip round the ear, oh I forgot thats no longer allowed, I don't advocate hitting children but they must be given boundries, otherwise a lot of them turn out like those kids you see hanging around bus stops and such like, but then you listen to some of the parents and you know why they behave that way.

It's sad really that the extended family has now all but vanished, with people travelling further for work education moving to different parts of the country very few people stay in the areas in which they were brought up so therefore there is no-one to watch out, my mum used have an army of spies it seemed always ready to tell her of my misdeeds in fact I got away with very little thank god I say now. To stick your neck out means a barrage of abuse or worse just look at the papers there is no law no order.

With all the talk of getting back to basics lets start ast home and teach our children good manners be considerate to others just plain common curtesy, we might not see so much bad behaviour swearing bullying underage drinking teenage pregnancy, people not leaving there homes after 6pm at night, I'm not saying this is the solution but it has to start somewhere.

Mercifully Big Brother ends tonight they should scrap this programme for good, but they won't as bad publicity is publicity the mind boggles.

Thanks pharmalo on the advice for Technorati have'nt got round to it yet but wiil do in the week.

Have a good week

GETTING THERE

Here I am again somewhere between today and tommorrow, no mishaps on the trains this week although we have had some snow well just a dusting really, and it has been colder but bearable.

I have now not had a ciggerette for 12 days and saved £120 I'm so proud of myself at times this wek I have been sorely tried but I did not give in, I have aslo inspired my previous asst mgr Tara has now gone 5 days and saved £50, her daughter does Irish dancing and the dresses cost a whopping £350 so thats her incentive, her daughter left her a note the other day saying how proud of her she was for giving up smoking she's only 9 out of the moth of babes makes you think.

I've not got much planned for the weekend i have brought some work home, but it's only a couple of hours worth of work.

I'm going to try to set up my Freeview reciever  again I tried las t Sunday set it up ok but could only get BBC channels which seems odd if it does'nt work this time back to the shop.

Also I'm going to try Technorati again god knows what went wrong with that but I'll try it again if anyone has any advice on this please let me know.

I'm going to stay up and watch the Australian open the womens final!!!

QUIET WEEKEND

It was nice to go out today although very cold but it was a nice sunny day after all the terrible weather last week it made a welcome change, some of my neighbours were repairing the damage done last week thankfully not too serious.

With luck the trains will be back to normal service this week each day I was over an hour late comming and going so lost quite a lot of time time, but at least I'll get some money back.

As i said last week i'm trying to learn spanish I do this on the train in the morning but like I said I keep falling asleep, I notice my local community center is running some courses so on tuesday i'll go and have a look see it'll probably be better learning with other people.

Also this week end I've been trying to set up my web page with easy designer which is not bad but would have been better if I could use the site properly but hey I enjoy trying I've also signed up to Technorati which i also found a bit difficult to navigate but i'll get there in the end.

It's been 6 days since I gave up the dreaded weed, I have to say it's been really rough and i did'nt think I would last the week nor did any of my friends (they who have little faith) but here i am. I suppose it will get easier as the weeks go by at least at work I'm busy but the weekend has been hard to cope with but i keep thinking of the money i'm saving £60 so far if I keep it up for a year £3,600 unbelivable really that I spend that amount of money I also spend this on my annual travel!!! so hopefully some nice holidays for me this year.

After I've kicked the smoking habit the diet will have to start again although I'm not eating excessively but I can now taste my food better so I'll have to watch those extra pounds that always creep up on you lol.

It's still a bit quiet at work but I have new staff so there is a bit of extra time for training, we also have new wines and ales that have to be introduced this week so a lot to do.

As i'm working in the west end now I see a lot of famous faces last week i saw George Hamilton, Billy Zane and Jimmy Carr, I have to say George Hamilton him of the permanent tan looks good on tv but alot older in person.

Thank god Celebrity Big Brother is almost over i think the whole programme should have been scrapped. the unedyfying site of these so called celebrities behaving in that way was not good tv again what do i spend my licence fee for not this, give me good old fashioned tv last year the BBC gave us Bleak House-fantastic anf Jane Eyre also fantastic. I'm reading the Forsythe Saga -great we should have more like this.

JUST STUFF

Again it's silly'o'clock way past burning the midnight oil, i'm now into my third day of being a non smoker, I'm finding it hard but will persevere, at least I don't feel so unwell and it seems that the patches do work I've spent £111 so they'd better lol.

Still a bit quiet at work being a 5 week month we wil not really pick up for another couple of weeks, but as I have been recruiting new staff it give me a chance to complete all their traning, also I have to prepare a buisness plan for the rest of the year, so I am quite busy.

The weather has been awful all the trains were delayed this morning due to overhead cables comming down so over an hour late into work today with high winds and rain expected it looks like it will be the same tommorrow, apparently were in in for a really cold snap for the next five days oh joy lol.

I've been reading in the news about celebrity big brother and the racism against Shilpa it would seem that has caused quite a stir people are calling for the main instigators to be removed from the house,it's quite strange that the others in the house who are seemly more intelligent don't come forward and say something in this day and age this is unacceptable behavour and both sides should know better do we crave celebrity that much that we are prepared to watch someone be publicly villified just to gain a further fifteen minuets of fame. It would seem that all tv is these days are reality programmes and we are subjected to has beens and there various antics for our supposed entertainmentand a hefty license feeof £126 or is it more, what happend to real tv this is probably why I watch mainly DVDs as there is very rarely anything I want to watch does anyone else feel the same? Rant over

FIRST DAY

It's silly o clock but I can't sleep, my first full day without cigarettes, well I have to say It has been really dificult i'm using patches to help me through the withdrawal, also I've signed to the makers website for additional support, which is fine but i have to tell you I have never felt so ill in my life, no energy very sore throat, and stress levels at an all time low, well they do say no pain no gain lol or is that for excercise, I think my spelling and grammer have gone to pot too. As it is only the first day I'll do another, one day at a time, hopefully by the end of the week I'll feel better.

the downside is that I've eaten so much today just to keep myself occupied, this will have to stop dieting and not smoking is too much to cope with, so tommorrow a trip to the greengrocer oh silly me Tesco and stock up on fruit at least that will do me some good.

Will continue to chart my progress oh by the way they say one of the side effects are abnormal dreams now i'm scared to go to sleep lol, but i keep telling myself it is for the greater good(that sounds so noble lol)

JUST STUFF

This is my only post this week it has been a bit uneventful for a change, work was quite busy and I have a new chef she is Brazillian and seems to be working out quite well thank god. only one delay on the trains this week got home at 3.15am on wednesday morning.

I think i mentioned last week that i was giving up smoking well I start tommorrow my friend George wanted to stop also so but had'nt bought his patches so I've had to wait mind you I bought the rest of the 10 week course today so the total has been £111 which is less than i spend in a month on smoking. Adding up the cost means that I spend £2.500 per year which is scary, so tommorrow is the day so I will be crossing everything I really want to succeed this time.

I went into to town today firstly for a manicure and then to see if there was anything in the sales ,sadly no the sales this year have been quite poor and the shops are very quiet especially after the frenzy of Christmas.

I have some time off at the end of this month so I've decided to do an early spring clean I am such a hoarder but it is now completely out of control, i've so many clothes to give to charity I don't know why I keep them most don't fit anymore and some are impulse buys you know the one I'll slim into it lol, some things I'll try to off load on e-bay the rest I'll have to be brutal and just throw away.

I'm going to start learning Spanish again I do this with the free discs I got from the Mail last year might as well learn something on the way to work and they're quite easy, and i have always felt that a second language will be useful.

LAZY SUNDAY

I had a long lie in today when it's miserable out I find it hard to get out of bed(not that I need an excuse to lie in lol),watched a bit of TV then headed for town and the sales, very strange it was so quiet in town today and talking to various shop staff they're finding it very quiet all round.

I tried to get a winter coat even in the sales the choice was limited or perhaps I'm to fussy lol. A new mobile phone the only 2 I like are not in stock, however did manage to buy 4 dvd the complete Fawlty Towers  a set of 4 James Stewart films and House boat with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren, also A freeview digital reciever (more technology) and some nice fudge from Thortons.

I hav'nt yet connected the freeview looks quite easy though which is a good thing have you noticed how many hours we spend assembling things, now nothing just plugs in they all have instructions that a child of 5 could read but not adults lol. I always say to my friends get your kids to set it up they just seem to know.

I've spent the rest of the afternoon reading which is one of my hobbies currently reading the Forsythe Saga good so far, recently finished Jane Eyre fantastic the beeb did a good adaptation also. I also like murder mysteries and autobioghrapies.

I did ask last  week who can help me set up a web page or at least be able to add tags to my blog all help will be much appreciated thank you in advance.

Off to have dinner and watch Basil Fawlty!!

thats it for now

fIRST WEEK OF THE YEAR

Thats the first week of the year gone by, seems such a long time since the New Year, I went back to work on Tuesday and It's been quiet all week everybody has over spent over eaten and still suffering from the festive period hang over.

I've managed to get a nasty cold which shows no signs of abaiting, i'm so bunged up with a hacking cough, not very nice.

It seemed to rain all day today and at work it flooded the cellar and the bar, we had to close early and it took us 45 mins to mop all the water up, as were not there tommorrow on Monday I'll probably find the pub full of water and the wooden floors buckled again!

Last night the journey home was eventful firstly there was an apparent suicide bid at Chelmsford which had been going on for 3 hours so all the trains backed up they stopped our train at Shenfield telling us there would be a replacement bus service of course that was'nt the case so we waited and waited eventually we got back on a train and  I arrived home at 4am, my heart goes out to those who feel that life has got them down to such an extent that they feel the only course of action is to commit suicide, OI do hope the man gets the help that he needs. And of course the trains were delayed this morning due to "engineering works" all this for £3ooo+ per year.

Boots have a special offer on the stop smoking patches so I've bought a course so as from tommorrow will attempt again to give up smoking fingers crossed I'll manage it this time.

I'm still trying to buy a winter coat the choices they have are really poor, there is a shop near work and they do sheepskin coats I thought it said for £179 so in I went tried on this fantastic coat this will do I looked at the price tag and it was £799 so I took that off sharpish quite a good advertising ploy I think because when I looked again the price tag was partially hidden, I'll try tommorrow when I go into town might be able to pick up something in the sales.

I'm actually going to cook having lamb done in  red wine and redcurrant sauce done in the slow cooker with roast pots parsnips carrots, It'll taste even better on Monday proper winter comfort food yum.

RESOLOUTIONS

HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I had a lovely New Year my friend George and I went to an Italian Restaurant in Balham, they put on a great evening for us all, although fully booked everyone was in a party mood and from 11pm onwards we danced the night away and got home at 2.30am also all the ladies got a Christmas Cactus.

Today was just spent lazing around eating and watching telly very relaxing and on freeview watched 3 Poirot John Suchet Albert Finney and Peter Ustinov.

I got home just after 10pm so I can get ready for work tommorrow up early and back to the weary commute I have to be up at 5.30 for the beer delivery, I have a new chef starting this week plus a new assistant manager on Thursday so all looks good on the work front.

One thing this year I would like to learn how to create a web page so if any of you have the time and patience I would greatly appreciate your help.

As for Resolutions I've decided to make none and just see where life takes me "Go with the flow" for a change.

HAVE A GREAT YEAR EVERYONE
