So it's goodbye from Me
Bye Bye
http://cayasm-isntshegreat.blogspot.com
For the past 3/4 years I've been on the verge of a Nervous Breakdown but can never really find the time to do it, although there are times when I give in to depression, and often feel that nobody really cares(not true) but thats how I feel, Ive tried the happy pills they so readily hand out and Theraphy which just makes me feel that I'm being indulgent, although I know helps many, the weekly visit to my therapist just made me feel inadequete and unable to cope(I have control issues..lol) plus I always had the nagging feeling that she didn't really "Get Me" though she probably did(I'm clearly not a suitable candidate for help), my main problem being that I want to be the one to help and advise, I want to absorb other's pain(clearly colossal control issues) and become upset when I can't change things, and impatient with those who do not deal with the consequences of their actions(see the contradiction). Being part of Jland has helped in so many ways and the caring and sharing that I see on a daily basis restores my wavering faith, so I was very touched when pamhttp://journals.aol.co.uk/pamal3/almost40/ made these awards, and genrously awarded one to me.

Pam also made a graphic for special friends I think your all special so please add to your sidebar's
Lovely of Pam to give us all a little boost, and it made me smile.
My back seems to be improving every week, great to be walking fully upright I still have some pain, but certainly more manageable, the muscle relaxants help too lol, and I had a second date with my new friend, which went very well, and planning to meet again soon, woo hoo thats boost if ever there was one.
Thats all from me today, take care all!
psst..Ive decided not to have a breakdown well today at any rate.
Goodness it's been about six weeks since I last posted on here, time does certainly fly without realising it, were almost in June the last few months just seem to have disppeared.
Anyway to catch up a little for those of you who remember in my last entry, I had complained of "Back pain" which has been ongoing for well over a year now, to be honest sometimes crippling pain, my doctor seemed unable to come up with any soloutions other than painkillers telling me that I was depressed and offering yet more pills which I declined. Well three weeks ago I went to see the Osteopath, and after careful examination decided that my spine is mis-aligned and was resting on my Siatic nerve, which would explain the pins and needles and swollen right ankle, I can tell you it was a relief to have some kind of answer, and that it was treatable.
Changes are to made not least by spending less time online (yeah right) as my sitting position doesn't help matters, also the treatment so far just manipulation to correct the mis-alignment have helped greatly I'm actually walking fully upright, and able to walk short distances more comfortably, the relif as you can imagine is huge, also doing exercises to strengthen my back (Alexander technique) which I do every day, in time I'm also thinking of taking up Yoga but not quite yet as my lower back and legs are still quite weak, but hey I feel so much better and my mood has lifted considerably.
All going well I shall be able to do my fulltime teaching course, hopefully starting in either July or August, that just fills me with joy not being the kind of person who likes being unproductive.
Other news last week I went on a date the first in a longtime ..lol I was abit worried not really feeling the best, but with a couple of muscle relaxants followed later by a few glasses of wine I felt somewhat invincible and all was well with the world, we had a really nice time going to a local restaurant, and to a music bar afterwards, not that I tripped the light fantastic, but merely managed to sway in my seat which was enough, but that could have been the wine and pills, but who cares I had a nice evening out with good company, we have been talkinga lot on the phone and are meeting next week again woo hoo, Yasmin's getting her groove back..lol and next time I'll be up on that dance floor doing my version of the Fandango.
Sorry it's been so long and will try to be more regular(I mean writing posts).
Everybody be well and take care
Graphic by Donna.
It's been a while since I posted anything, not that much has been happening, and it seems like winter has lasted an awful longtime.
To be honest I've not felt like posting much although I keep up with journals, but even that has been half hearted at times, which seems to have been a sign of the times the last few months I notice regular journalers are not as active of late, it's quite hard to keep up with others when thing are not so great in your own back yard so to speak.
For those of you who may remember I've been suffering back pain for over a year now while at times it seems better but mostly I'm in quite a lot of pain, unabale to sit or stand for long periods, I've been doing the Alexander Technique which has helped some, and of course pain killers which I hate to rely on, but a necessary evil, I know there are others in greater pain than I, but can only deal with mine, I've also had a stomach bug which really knocked me for six but have recovered quite well from that.
Until I can do something about my back I cannot continue with my plans to train as a teacher, as my concentration would not what I would like it to be, my GP can offer no real solutions so I've booked to see an Osteopath next week, luckily my private healthcare still has a few months to run so it will cost very little, so generally feeling down in the dumps which my GP thinks it's depression(oh joy) so I'll just have to find a way to work through that.
I really loathe losing my interests, and feeling like crap, I'm such an active person not so much in body but in mind , but I think just "doing " for so long has left me depleted, clapped out at 43 lol.
Sorry for such a poor entry but i juste wanted to touch base, and with luck normal service will resume ASAP.
Take care
Thanks Donna for the graphic.

To all those that celebrate "HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY", quite a nice day for me for the first time in years I don't have to oraganise a St Pats Party at work, nor find myself swimming in the black stuff(Guiness), and serving up Irish Stew with Soda Bread, oh the joys of no longer being a licensee, saying that it was great fun, during the festivities not so fun when everybody gets hammered(drunk), and no Green Lager..lol.
Saying all that though it was great fun, we used to spend ages doing the pub up in the morning, plus well all used to wear the big hats(on display above) it's anice thing to do and next month we have St Georges Day.
So just a few pictures of a couple of my pubs and a video to get you in the mood from the comfort of your computer screen.
RIVERDANCE
Have fun all
I'ts been a couple of weeks since I last posted anything, to be honest not much has been happening.
I finshed my online studies for my teaching course and have my Certificate, so have now applied to do the fulltime course which I'll be doing abroad Spain probably, and just as well I checked my Passport,as it will be out of date soon, so that 'll be another couple of hours wasted a t the post office filling out forms etc.
What else, oh I've been on a healthy eating kick lost almost 20lbs, and still trying to lose that "giving up smoking" weight, but at least my blood pressure has settled down, so feeling healthier in those terms, my back still plays up and some days I'm in agony and can hardly walk I'll have to set up another appointment, and see what they can do, can't really go on like this it takes me 10 minutes to walk to the corner shop considering I only live about 8 doors away.
I also have to look into finding a Cattery for Scarlett and Domino for when I'm away and it's quite expensive, and the won't be happy about it at all..lol, they just about cope when my neighbour has to feed them for a week.
Some good news I have some friends comming over from Sri Lanka next week and were going out for dinner next Wednesday which should be fun, and gets me another invite to visit them, never been to that part of the world maybe next year, as for hoildays this year New York hopefully at the end of May as well as visiting friends in France and Spain oh yes and getting a new job..lol, though it has been nice having all this time off but now I'm a bit bored and need to get my teeth into something.
Sorry to be boring today, but just not been up to much lately oh well it goes like that sometimes.
I did start a new shared journal heres the link:
http://journals.aol.co.uk/cayasm/thejlandkitchen/ so please feel free to add your recipes.
Thats all for now
I think I must be regressing, sorry folks I have another memory to share.
The year was 1982, I was at catering colledge at the time and the girls and I decided on a foreign holiday, we were of to sunny Spain well Benidorm to be exact a kind of Spanish mecca for the English holidaymaker.
We all had jobs by then and saved dilligently for the £130 the airfare and apartment, we also had to get passports for the first time, plus get our parents sign our holiday forms as we were under eighteen.
So the day finally dawned, we had to go to Victoria station to get the train to Gatwick, I don't think we stopped giggling all the way, we finally checked in and had a stroll around the airport and of course none of us had ever flown before, we had to go outside to board the plane which I was very disappointed about, thinking I would just sweep onto the plane from the tunnel not trudge up the flight steps..lol. also it's quite exciting the firstime you fly well also terrifying..lol
The airline was called Dan-Air(no longer in buisness) and talk about herded in like battery hens I swear the man in front was sitting in my lap for whole two hour journey, leg room was unheard of then, they served something they called food, a kind of brown casserole HUH i've stepped in it a few times but never eaten it..lol and luckily I was on my bikini diet thats all I'm saying.
The first thing that hit you was the heat, not used to this kind of weather back in Blighty, we had a further one hour drive into Benidorm, and we learned the joys of Spanish driving...lol finally we arrived at our apartment block checked in, the lift wasn't working (of course) and we had to walk eleven flights of stairs to our apartment, but remember I was eighteen it was nothing even with my case, now I would have to be air-lifted..lol.
Being teenage girls we changed and headed for the beach wich was actually across the road, and basked in the sun for the rest of the afternoon, that night we left for dinner, dressed in our finery as you can imagine the resort catered very well for English tastes, everything with chips(fries) and English breakfast was served all day, so after our burger and chips we hit the night clubs with avengence, most were open until 3am..woo hoo, we then did the other English tradition and had a kebab.. yes even in Spain there was a kebab shop(for those across the pond don't even ask).
We followed the same routine everyday (thats why the saying, Mad dogs and English men go out in the midday sun) I tell you it was exhausting all that lying around eating a diet of burger and chips chicken and chips fried breakfast, thank god the sun dried out my spots..lol and of course I had my own personal swarm of mosquitos, so nice they met me at the airport and stayed with me the whole two weeks, the girls thought it was hilarious, but I got the last laugh on D she got sunburn and her face doubled in size, it didn't stop her though she just lathered on the baby oil and did herself to a nice turn, and of course the eleven flights of stairs, as the lift only worked sometimes.
Unlike now but those days abroad the English complained, couldn't get a decent cup of tea, nobody spoke English..lol and it was too hot.
On our last night we went clubbing and stayed out all night thinking our bus was leaving in the afternoon, WRONG... they had to wait while we hastily packed, much grumbling from the other passengers..lol anyway me made it home safely with promises to do it again next year(we did Tenerife), we bought our parents the same presents Spanish doll toilet roll holder, and a stuffed Spanish Donkey...lol
Take care all
I was talking to an old school friend the other day, just remebering some of our school days, when she mentioned our first grown up disco(I don't think they call them that now), it was to be held at a local hall with no adults to supervise woo hoo,
I remember it took weeks to save up for the ticket a whole £3.00($6.00),saving every penny i could get my hands on, lol..
Then of course I needed a dress and as mum was handy with a needle she made me a fabulous grown up dress ..well I was Fifteen, and a big plus I was staying over at a friends house, its great when you have friends that have liberal parents.
We got to C's house after school about four in the afternoon can you just imagine three teenage girls getting ready to go out I still don't think iI've ever seen so much makeup, hair rollers combs brushes, the smelliest of perfumes, and clothes covering every surface, and the giggling it's a wonder we made it.
There we were ready at seven pm dressed in our finery, my dress was purple satin with a black bolero jacket sky high heels, enough makeup to put Revlon to shame my hair was set like tortoishell it would take weather of epic proportions to move it,
C had red satin trousers and a sparkly top and S wore a sparkly blue dress lots of sequins I seem to remember, both wore gravity defying make up and rock hard hairdo's, oh I forgot we loved lip gloss strawberry flavour..lol we staggered to the bustop with C's mums laughter ringing in our ears, we each had £5.00 spending money, and we had to be home by evelen pm omg to us that was like being out all night.
We finally arrived meeting up with our friends all the sqealing about each others dresses all the boys dresses in trousers shirt and ties some even wore suits, on entering the dark hall, this also caused ripples of excitement loads of balloons every where music thumping(didn't seem loud then), just a few people dancing the rest of us standing around waiting for something to happen, we were good girls no alcohol, but we all smoked because it was so terribly grown up(to think I onlymanaged to give up last year) we used to smoke one fag(cigarette) between about five of us.
Gradually we all started to dance and dance music loud and pumping, much laughter, all of us thinking how grown up we were, the boys only dancing when the slow dances came on they seemed to kind of unpeel themselves from the four walls and suddenly appeared in front of us, so with most of us our first time dancing with a boy up close and personal so to speak..lol.
all to soon it was over and we girls learned a lesson that night..yes overhead harsh lighting...lol we looked like Pandas, on the way home we got a bag of chips each and with swollen feet feet tottered home laughing and giggling all the way, the BEST night EVER.
Little did we realise that we would never be that age again,

I was just thinking about summer holidays today and remebering our family holidays in Broadstairs, Kent.
We started going there in the mid seventies, for the last week in August, I remember my brother and I were so excited only ever having been to the seaside once before but now we were to spend a whole week.
The day finally arrived as we made our way to Victoria Station to board the coach, it was a three hour journey and we gazed out of the window watching London disappear then out in to wide opens spaces taking us closer to our destination, we finally arrived at 1pm to be picked up by David the owner.
On arriving at "Woodleigh" a large house wich had seven family sized bedrooms a sitting room come dining room we were welcomed my Rae davids wife and taken to our rooms, my brother and I shared bunk beds which was a first for us.
We spent that first Saturday walking around the town, it was quite Dickensian but also Charles Dickens did actually have a summer home there, and quite a lot of the town paid hommage to his book titles "The Old Curiosity Shoppe" being one such place we always visted.
We walked along the front and saw Viking Bay for the first time, the beach where we would spend most of our time.
After Breakfast on sunday we made our way to the beach, and there we stayed until time for Lunch at 1pm (Guest house were quite strict about mealtimes) then back to the beach for the rest of the day the weather glorious, we met several other families that year and we were to meet every year for the next twelve years or so it was like a home from home.
Rainy days were spent in the amusment arcades or playing Bingo..lol or just walking around the town, we used to go to a bakery that made fresh doughnuts and had the machine in the window and we used to watch the batter being whisked then being plopped into the hot oil when done would be then dipped into the sugar, so delicious being eaten hot.
On the beach apart from making sandcastles swimming and causing general mayhem while the adult basked in the sun we watched the Punch and Judy shows took Donkey rides(which I managed to fall off..lol).On Fridays the big treat was to go into Margate and go to the Dreamland Funfair (Sadly now gone) comming back late to finish packing to go home on Saturday.
They were such glorious days the only time apart from Christmas when you spent time with your familiy, we also forged many friendships a few of which have lasted until this day, as much as I enjoy foreign travel those holidays hold the best memories for me
Yasmin
Hello everyone, just back from the last of my travels for January anyway..lol.
My travels wouldn't be the same without some problem(Sigh) when I arrived at the Coach Station on Wednesday horror of horrors there would be a delay as the Coach had broken down, and there would be a delay of one hour, as you can imagine the sense of foreboding was well huge, luckily several others were there and we all neede to be at Stanstead airport by 10am, with a bit of gentle persuasion they ordered a Taxi for us, so we arrived safe and sound with plenty of time to spare "Whew".
On going through security I bumped into a family who were on the plane comming back from Carcasonne the week before, it just goes to show what a small world we live in.
Arriving in Valencia a lovely sunny day and of course I was over dressed because it was cold in back in Blighty but no matter we had a pleasant fifteen minute drive to the town of Cheste, not much to see just the mountains in the distance.
I was visiting old friends well in fact they trained me over twenty years ago when I was in the Pub buisness, so we spent the afternoon on the veranda catching up and drinking wine..lol
Its a lovely villa set in large grounds with a pool and big garden area, its nice to see Orange and Lemon trees as you don't see those in Britan, and a glorious ctrus smell, in the summer they have Muscatel grapes, but say they're a bit too sweet to eat but are nice in salads etc, (I did suggest wine making).
On Friday we had a drive into Cheste, and then into Chiva a neighbouring town which was also very pretty with the most amazing villas with mostly mountain views which are surrounded by Orange and Lemon Groves which is the main produce along with rice as Valencia is home to Paella, we had this for lunch on Friday which consisted of rabbit and chicken, which I've never had before but was delicious cooked in the traditional manner. Paella a saffron based short grain rice cooked in a shallow pan large in diameter once all the ingredients are added it is not to be stirred then cooked on a charcol fire.
Friday evening found us in a family run restaurant, my friends both had Squid and I had Suckling pig all of which was yummy and of cours washed down with Rioja, I'm not really a red wine drinker but managed on this occasion..lol finished with a Sherry liqueur. This is a raison based liquer and when they get almost to the end of the barrel they use that to start the next batch, and so on.
Saturday was spent in the town of Cheste, just ambling around and of course deciding what to have for lunch, this was the hottest day so far although all the days were warm but it turned very cold at night, and we sat around the open fire we even had hot water bottles just to be extra toastie.
All a very enjoyable four days, and the next visit will be a longer one.
Thats it for now.
Hi all, just got back today safe and sound.
As you can imagine it was with some trepidation, that I apporached my trip after the Christsmas debacle, well I was up at the crack of dawn on Friday got on the 7.35am coach to Stanstead(taking no chances..lol), and of course I had to wait for check in to open, but I was first in the queue, checked in and all was ok except I had to pay £2.oo extra admin cost because I had checked in online and they had to issue a boarding card.
Very tight security had my bags searched and they tried to take away some of my girlie stuff moisturisers etc but I made a fuss as it was all Bliss products and costs a fortune, so the nice security man relented bit naughty I know but whats a girl to do, dry skin is not an option ..lol.
After changing the departure gates twice (clearly we all needed the exercise) the journey went with out a hitch, although I did bang my knees on landing, Ryanair just sort of drop out of the sky and come to an immediate halt on the ground anyone in the departure lounge can put their hand out of the window and touch the plane..lol.
We stopped off in Carcasonne first met with some friends and had a bottle of wine then made our way to Limoux, French Trains are so much better than ours really clean and efficient.
We had a nice time on Friday night lots of food and cake and copious amounts of wine we talked till the early hours catching up etc.
Saturday dawned bright and very cold and windy, after breakfast of Croissants fresh from the bakery we just ambled around town met up with some other friends for yet more wine and pastries, I think you can see a theme here..lol. In the eveing we set off for Festas(name of a place,) for dinner, the French take meal times very seriously, we started with apperitifs and nibbles stuffed my self silly and then sat down to dinner four courses, we stayed in a nice cottage the village is very small only twenty residents, so very quiet with only a log burner for heating. On sunday we just lazed around after breakfast and I took a few pics at midday the French have lunch, so another large meal, and we had dessert at a neighbours house, we drove back in the early evening and went to the town square and listened to some music at the local cafe.
Monday we followed the same theme, although we were limited as it rained most of the day. On Tuesday we went for lunch in Carcasonne and made our way to the Airport for me to return home only to find that it was TODAY, we both got the dates completely mixed up, so back to Limoux(theres something about me and travel..lol) polished off the rest of the food and wine last night...lol went back today as as you see arrived home safely. Got it all to do again next week when I go to Spain..lol.
Had a lovely time the break was just what I needed, the weather limited us a bit but hey, although I'm back on my diet with avengence and will have to detox before Spain..lol.
Take care all

I'm making a second attempt on going to France..lol, I leave next Friday and shall be leaving at the crack of dawn just to make sure, that the trip goes off without a hitch this time, luckily the insurance from the last aborted attempt will pay out, so I'm not out of pocket. I still have heard nothing from Ryanair about Christmas Eve, but not holdng my breath they have a bad track record, with customer service.
I'll be back from France for about four days then off to Valencia (Spain) to vist my ex boss and his wife who finally retired out there just before Christmas, so looks like January is looking up.
I had called the local voluntary services, about League of Friends and they said just to come in, so I'll go along to tommorrow have a chat and see whats needed.
I have'nt been out much the last few days it's cold and miserable and would much rather be snuggled up on the sofa with a good book, I haven't even been tempted by the sales this year, plus I'm not very good at bargain hunting.
I was talking to a friend yesterday, about this and that when the subject of blogging came up, he is quite surprised that I have a public blog(although not a reader of mine), he wants to do the same but is concerned on what to write about, which brings me to the question of why I blog/keep a journal.
Well when I was younger I always kept some sort of diary usually filled with the normal girlie things, my favourite popstar at the the time was Donny Osmond I stand by my choice...lol, although I always enjoyed writing etc, one thing another I stopped(became a fully fledged teenager graduating to full time party animal I'll skim over that bit...lol). However when I re-joined the internet world, I discovered Blogs and read many before I attempted to do the same myself.
Thus it began I really had no idea what I would write about and my original entries are quite poor, saying that, I enjoy it tremendously, and have been so inspired by many of the journals that I read, and the people that I have met through th JLand community.
So my answer to "G" is that it's a new way to meet people, we lead such busy lives now, and in most cases we do not have family or friends readily available, it's easier in some ways to make time to use the internet as a way to keep in touch and make new friends. "G" is still not convinced and is going to think about it a bit more, he is more worried that people will not find him interesting and he is not an accomplished writer, well neither am I say but I just get on with and hope someone finds something of interest. I'll keep working on him he just needs a kick up the you know what...lol.
What were your reasons for starting a blog/journal?
Thats all I have for now
Take care all
My New Year was spent quietly with me and the cats, which they enjoyed as they had Salmon for dinner..lol, unfortunately today they didn't want their usual fayre of Iams, so cuddles for breakfast..lol.
As always I wonder what the New Year will bring, apart from the usual health and happiness, the latter can somtimes be elusive, but I will try to make ammends on that front, not to say that I'm unhappy but do need to make more positive changes in my life.
It's rare that I make any real resoloutions, as I never seem to follow through, though last year I did and It's almost a year since I gave up smoking, there is always the wish to lose wait and become a beacon of health, but I find that boring and I like my food, to take more exercise, which I like but find it too tiring. lol
So this year is the beginning of Career changes as you know I want to teach English as a foreign Language, having completed the first part of my course, I will apply this week to do the residential course...YAY I choose this particular field simply beacause I love learning something new and if I can share that knowlege so much the better, at least with this I can travel which is another passion i'd like to explore in the not to distant future.
My usual interests include journal, although not the best of writers, compared to some I do enjoy it very much and I'm amazed at how friendly the JLand community is and have made some lovely new friends besides which I'm very nosey and love reading all about peoples lives. And have been very much impressed at the support and spirit shown by many.
My other idea is to rejoin League of Friends which is a volunteer service to visit patients in hospital who have no family or none close by, I used to do this about 10 years ago but with my work schedule i had to give it up, but found it very rewarding and good fun, and met some very special characters along way.
Anyway those are my musings for the New Year,
Take care all
Yasmin
