As Christmas fast approaches, I have been reading the various journals it would seem that most have put there decorations up already (except for me). If you decorate the outside of your house it give rise to the notion what are great Christmas displays or what is plain tacky. In the Uk Christmas decorations have been the sourse of many neighbourly arguement and in some cases bringing civil action, my question is do our eyes have to be assaulted and dazzled everytime we leave the house or should we opt for tasteful and safe, well tasteful at any rate..LOL, Below are some examples of what some would call horrors of the first order, or simply getting into the spirit of Christmas, let me know what you think!

I feel so many decorations out side lead to drawing attention to yourself ,if you go out it isnt safe to leave them all on ,but you are anouncing that you arent in tonight when the lights arent on ....if you know what Imean lol ....love Jan xxx,,
hi, i am undecided. I think that people can go too far. A lot of people round here do collections for charity with their lights, i think that is great. I think the young children enjoy them too. Presonally i don't decorate outside for 2 reasons. 1. they would get pinched! 2. hubby and i don't know how!!!LOL. luv mrs t xx

I look at garishly decorated houses and I think smugly: they'll have a HUGE electricity bill after Xmas LMAO
Oh you know us Yanks. More is better in most people's opinion!

I figure that it's pnly for a few weeks each year that people get to indulge their inner child and put up all the decorations. I'm too lazy to do that much myself but I love riding around in the vening looking at other people's outlandish displays. It makes me feel in the holiday spirit!--Sheria
We live in a troubled world. People have little to celebrate. I think if you wish to decorate you should although some do go over the top. Also consider the neighbours and make sure the lights are off by 11p.m. We have no mardi gras or similar holidays in this country. I think we never lose the magic of coloured lights from childhood and I think, on the whole, it cheers people up to see them.
I'd just like to have getting one string of icicle lights up on the front of my house. I don't think old ladies' should be climbing ladders, so I can't do it. Some people go all out and I hate to think what their power bills look like after the holidays. Mine are high enough just keeping the thermostat at 65 degrees on these cold days. Personally i like the less is best. I posted pics of the inside a while back and my outside has a lit wreath and lights and green garland wrapped around my light pole with a red bow on top. Simple but yet it say Christmas. I hate it when people leave their X-mas decorations up til Feb/March. Take 'em down after New Years I say! :) Great Poll. :)
We are both members of DSD Tg Group. I still have no idea what a group does, but i'm sure I'll figure it out. :)

LOL, Yasmin, I say less is best. Now, my 24 year old son would love to rent an extra power grid from the electric company but not in this house he won't. The US is big on tons of lights. HUGS CHris
