JANUARY 1ST

My New Year was spent quietly with me and the cats, which they enjoyed as they had Salmon for dinner..lol, unfortunately today they didn't want their usual fayre of Iams, so cuddles for breakfast..lol.

As always I wonder what the New Year will bring, apart from the usual health and happiness, the latter can somtimes be elusive, but I will try to make ammends on that front, not to say that I'm unhappy but do need to make more positive changes in my life.

It's rare that I make any real resoloutions, as I never seem to follow through, though last year I did and It's almost a year since I gave up smoking, there is always the wish to lose wait and become a beacon of health, but I find that boring and I like my food, to take more exercise, which I like but find it too tiring. lol

So this year is the beginning of Career changes as you know I want to teach English as a foreign Language, having completed the first part of my course, I will apply this week to do the residential course...YAY I choose this particular field simply beacause I love learning something new and if I can share that knowlege so much the better, at least with this I can travel which is another passion i'd like to explore in the not to distant future.

My usual interests include journal, although not the best of writers, compared to some I do enjoy it very much and I'm amazed at how friendly the JLand community is and have made some lovely new friends besides which I'm very nosey and love reading all about peoples lives. And have been very much impressed at the support and spirit shown by many.

My other idea is to rejoin League of Friends which is a volunteer service to visit patients in hospital who have no family or none close by, I used to do this about 10 years ago but with my work schedule i had to give it up, but found it very rewarding and good fun, and met some very special characters along way.

Anyway those are my musings for the New Year,

Take care all

Yasmin

I am impressed with your positive attitude towards living and quitting smoking was a major accomplishment! The League of Friends sounds like a really good thing; I have to check and see if there is a similar program in my area. You have inspired me.--Sheria

Thanks for the link to you-You had a very nice entry into the New Year-quietly with your cats...think of the drunken brawls some people ushered in the New Year-not such a good start I'd think,LOL
Have you on alerts now-as long as AOL sees fit to send them.
Have a safe,healthy,wonderful New Year.

I don't like to make resolutions either, because I always disappointment myself and never follow thru. And I can't take failure !?!  LOL  I am going to attempt to go work out Monday,Wednesday & Fridays however.  And do some de-cluttering around the house.  But you noticed I used the word "attempt."  I guess you caould say that's a good start  and if I do just those two things this next year that will be accomplishing something.  Happy New Year...Linda in Washington state

I prefer to say goals (or hopes) rather than resolutions as I don't keep any I've made either so I don't make them anymore.  How wonderful you've stopped smoking, that should be something on my list but I always find a reason not to.
I wish you the best in 2008 and in your endeavours - your off to a good start in my opinion.

Thanks yasmin. Happy New Year to you too. Spending it with the cats sounded great. Let me know when you hit the year mark with the smoking as that's a day to really celebrate. (I'm almost 3 months past the year now) so, Well done. Good Luck with the career and as for the League of Friends, you are a truly remarkable person for actually doing things, most of us want, but never get round, to doing. Love Pam xx

Not the best writer?  That is always real subjective I believe. You write from the heart. That works.
I have been bopping around trying to thank some of those who left me kind comments on my alcohol & weeping entry, that would include you. Thank you so much Yasmin. ~Mary
